A funny twist on murder, By Barbara Ehrentreu
This review is from: “Dead Men Don’t Swing” (A Laura and Gerry Mystery Book 4)
From the beginning, I was drawn into the story and didn’t want to put it down. I don’t think I have ever seen a murder like the one in this book. A man falls from a balcony into a dumpster and has his unmentionables sliced off. Laura and Gerry find the body of course since it seems Laura attracts dead bodies. From there the plot gets crazy, and it keeps you guessing about how the police and Laura are going to solve this. You as the reader have been witnesses to the murder. In the prior book of this series, Laura had decided to stay away from police work until she got her degree, but things keep happening to involve Laura in this case.
The writing is crisp and full of old time detective lingo, and there are some quirky characters. Karen Vaughan brings her sense of humor to this, and you find yourself smiling through a lot of the scenes. Even the gory ones have a funny twist to them. Now I am hoping to read the other books in this Laura and Gerry series.
